Biblical Manhood: God's Design for Men

In a cultural moment marked by confusion about masculinity—where manhood is either caricatured as toxic aggression or diluted into passive sentimentality—Scripture offers clarity. Masculinity today is often framed in reactionary terms: either something to be suppressed or something to be exaggerated. Yet neither extreme reflects the biblical witness.

Biblical manhood is not a cultural construct shaped by trends, politics, or generational reaction. It is not defined by bravado, emotional detachment, physical dominance, or career success. Nor is it a soft retreat from strength, responsibility, or conviction. It is God-designed, Christ-shaped, and Spirit-empowered.

The confusion of our age stems largely from beginning in the wrong place. When culture defines manhood, it typically starts with behavior—what men do, how they act, how they express themselves. Scripture begins deeper. It begins with ontology before activity, identity before responsibility.

To understand manhood rightly, we must begin where the Bible begins: identity.
